what’s that…a tickle in the throat

don’t mind me for I will not gloat

but as you know I am here to linger

make you feel as though you’re a binger

try to sleep if you dare

it will not matter what you wear

day and night my chills to flashes will leave you bare

to eat you will not care

but in the event that you do drift to sleep

it will not be yours to keep

and when you wake

you’ll for certain ache

sometimes you’ll cough

and you may end up over a ceramic trough

then when you’re no longer stubborn

you’ll seek medicine that is modern

but oh dear, Christopher, you have the flu

no medicines will rid me of you

well unless you’re a member of the Sioux

for I will be a force

that must run the course
